Packing the boxes
Winter of 2006/spring2007 brought plenty of floods and gailes
So the spring saw us building two new tunnels in a bid to replace the ancient ones before more were damaged
Tunnels up and planted, we’re full of hope for a good season ahead. Little did we know what mother nature had in store.
His and Hers
Spring 2007 brings lots of hard work and difficult weather conditions. Even so by July we’ve got some good crops and are hoping for better weather!
21st July brought Floods Photos taken 12.30 21st July. River reached it’s height at 6.30 that evening by which time we were well and truly flooded and all crops ruined
When the floods receded it was full steam ahead to get ruined crops out of the tunnels. Luckily we were not alone, some wonderful customers turned up at the farm and all the crops were removed.
Even more help was offered. We decided our rescue package would be, replace the damaged tunnels and get them all planted in time for Autumn winter crops.
What fun we had
Amazingly by the end of September new tunnels were up and planted.
Winter 2007 Plan worked and winter sees us cropping Salads from tunnels, Artichokes and brasicas in the field.
