Why Is The Honey Not Organic?
The Honey we sell comes from Foragers Bee & Honey Company in Worcestershire. They try to choose apiary sites where their bees can forage in safety with minimal exposure to pesticides. For many years they have been managing their colonies without using any chemical Varroacides. This has been made possible by selecting bees that have Varroa resistant traits. Most beekeepers in the UK treat their colonies with chemical Varroacides to kill the mites and some treat on multiple occasions during the year. Their bees have the ability to manage the mites without needing to treat them with any pesticides. To find out more about bees with Varroa resistance, take a look here https://www.varroaresistant.uk.
You Grow Bananas?
Well, no. As veg growers it wouldn't really make sense to try and grow everything. We concentrate on growing the crops which grow well in our soils and climate. If it doesn't make sense for us to grow it then we try to source it from other local growers, or failing that, from our trusted organic wholesalers. We concentrate on seasonal homegrown produce but to be able to provide a full range of organic products we will also supplement our boxes with imported organic produce.
